  4.                   APPENDIX G - THE PROPER IMAGE THROUGH DRESS

  6.           The  job interview is the time  to start using clothing as a
  7.           business  tool.   For upper  level positions,  which usually
  8.           require  a  series of  interviews,  you should  have several
  9.           appropriate   ensembles.     Every  item   of  clothing  and
  10.           accessories  must be conservative, conventional, elegant and
  11.           coordinated.

  13.           No matter what kind of clothing you have, it won't look good
  14.           if  you travel in it and  then go directly to the interview.
  15.           Always  fly in  the night before  and do not  wear your best
  16.           outfit; have it pressed at the hotel before the interview.

  18.           It's  difficult to gage exactly who you will be interviewing
  19.           with  and  to predict  their preference  in  dress.   Wear a
  20.           conservative  outfit for the first interview and always look
  21.           around at what the executives in the prospective company are
  22.           wearing,  as it may  influence how you  dress for subsequent
  23.           interviews.

  25.           When  you look right  you usually feel  right, should not be
  26.           unduly  tense, and are  giving yourself a  break which helps
  27.           keep  you in control.  Before  the interview, look in a full
  28.           length mirror and try and be as objective as the interviewer
  29.           will be.

  33.           The  suits  you wear  should be  very conservative.   Choose
  34.           either  solid dark  blue, solid  gray, pin-stripe  in either
  35.           dark  blue or gray, and a plaid only if you are certain that
  36.           those you will meet with are less conservative.

  38.           Your shirts must be either white or pale blue and you should
  39.           have  a good  selection of ties.   Expensive small-patterned
  40.           ties  will  say  that  you  are  from  an upper-middle-class
  41.           background.   Brightly colored large patterned ties are more
  42.           appropriate for the entertainment industry.

  46.           A common sense wardrobe that compliments your personality is
  47.           the  best choice.   Stay away from high  fashion but it does
  48.           pay,  for high level  positions, to dress  as expensively as
  49.           you  can afford.  Appearance means success and it is not who
  50.           you know but the visual impression you make.

  52.           Are  your clothes appropriate for a business appointment, do
  53.           they   project  a  successful  image,   and  would  they  be
  54.           considered  serious clothing?  A well-fitted, tailored suit,
  55.           dress  or coordinated skirt and blouse can make you look and
  56.           feel  more confident.  Jewelry is considered acceptable, but
  57.           don't overdo it.

  61.           Be on guard for those "informal meetings" with the president
  62.           who  just "wants to  say hello."  Wear  your best outfit and
  63.           conduct yourself in the most formal manner.

  66.           DISPLAY IN THE FIRST FEW MINUTES WILL HAVE TREMENDOUS IMPACT
